So sure at certain times you believed you were in a bad situation. You constantly think you deserve more than the world today offers you. You wonder why you can’t have most of what you want. The money is just never enough to wade through the demands of your so called middle class live. Yeah I know you (think you) don’t have enough.
Look around you. You see pain, hustling, fear and suffering. I was taking a walk musing on how I was going to get 400 grand to attend a conference in Brazil without going hungry. As far I was concerned things were not easy, money was scarce – I was spending enormous amounts everyday on a variety of things – money was really scarce.
For a second I stepped outside my thoughts and took a good look around me. I realised that there were peeps burdened by the simple cost of daily living without any exuberance whatsoever. Peeps that don’t even have enough to bother about what they wear. Peeps that’d probably never be caught hanging out with friends over drinks. Peeps that wouldn’t even consider dating women much less womanize. Peeps whose biggest worry was a bill of 10 grand that would be due in 6 months!
Still thinking you got it bad? Think again. In that moment it dawned on me that I had to be grateful for what I had. I can’t remember how many Nigerians one report said live on a dollar a day, but I’m dead sure that if you had the time and money to login to Facebook today to read this note you don’t belong to this category. Again, be grateful and cut your coat to your cloth.
I leave you with the words of my favourite artist Lyfe Jennings: “You think you’ve got it bad? Some people have never had a chance at life”.
